Garthyfog Farm is located conveniently and provides a good base for walkers wishing to explore Snowdonia. With a seaside location walking varies from level coastal routes to more arduous walks in the mountains with the Rhinogs being close at hand. These mountains offer some of the wildest walking in the National Park with little disturbance from other walkers. Other famous peaks such as Cadair Idris and Snowdon can also be easily reached

The walk along the estuary from Barmouth to Dolgellau is 9.6 miles (15km). This easy leisure walk is suitable for all the family and involves no climbing. The beauty of the trail is that it can be joined at a number of points en route. A section of the trail has been adapted for people with disabilities.

Much of the route is owned by Snowdonia National Park Authority, committed to the conservation of the area. The estuary has a rich variety of wetland and woodland habitats which makes the walk a special experience ensuring your appreciation of the area's natural environment and its colourful history.
